Horse Training
Horses are
very smart animals. Some of them are so smart they cause some trainers trouble
because they are too active and to curious about their surroundings to concentrate
on what the trainer is wanting him/her to do. I use this curiosity to enhance
my training methods. I also use a low impact no resistance approach to training
that is easier on the horse and simple for you, the owner, to keep up when
the horse returns home. You can break a horse in 30 days but it take years
of work to make that broke horse a true trail horse, and even longer to turn
him into a western pleasure show horse. The great horses of today are not
great because their breeding, they are great because of their training. Most
training involves “wet saddle blankets” and at Schuetz
Farms that is the rule!
I use a combination of several different methods to create what I feel is
a flexible, diverse, and complete training experience. For example, John
Lyons’ method is the basis for all of my round pen work. I use Parnelli’s
becoming one with the horse method to convince the horse that all of the things
I do as a trainer are good, normal things that horses should naturally want
to do.
Another thing I do is guarantee to put 30 days of riding/training with your
horse in 30 days. I ride and train in ANY weather.
